Mental Attitude: Marijuana Use Tied to Greater Risk of Mental Health Issues? A review of health
histories of over 80,000 adults revealed that those with a history of regular marijuana use were three times more
likely to develop conditions such as depression and anxiety, and they were nearly seven times more likely to
develop severe mental illnesses such as psychosis or schizophrenia. The findings suggest it may be advised for
healthcare providers to screen patients who recreationally use marijuana for potential mental health disorders.
