Health Alert: Physical Frailty May Be an Overlooked Risk Factor for Headaches. Frailty is a condition marked
by reduced strength, endurance, and resilience that makes it harder for the body to recover from illness or stress. In a
study of 2,108 adults aged 60 and older who were headache-free at the start, 22.8% of those considered pre-frail and
29% of those considered frail developed headaches within the following nine years, compared with 13% of robust
participants. Archives of Medical Science, April 2026
Diet: More Omega-3s in Early Life May Help Lower Childhood Asthma Risk. Asthma is a chronic
inflammatory disease of the airways that can cause wheezing, coughing, and difficulty breathing. A review of 12
clinical trials involving more than 4,100 participants found that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation during early life
was associated with a lower risk of childhood asthma or wheezing.

Exercise: Movement Guidelines Support Healthy Aging. The 24-Hour Movement Guidelines combine three
behaviors—regular moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, adequate sleep, and limiting sedentary time—to promote
overall health. Using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and China Health and Retirement
Longitudinal Study data, researchers found that adults who met all three criteria had a 67% lower risk of developing
frailty over seven years. Geriatrics & Gerontology International, August 2026
Chiropractic: Addressing Tight Hamstrings May Benefit Knee Osteoarthritis Patients. Osteoarthritis is the
most common form of arthritis and is characterized by the slow breakdown of the cartilage within joints, leading to
swelling, stiffness, and pain that tends to worsen with time. A systematic review that included nine studies and
twelve randomized controlled trials found that manual therapy focused on alleviating tight hamstring muscles helped
reduce pain and improve physical function in people with knee osteoarthritis. Frontiers in Medicine, July 2026
Mental Attitude: Risk-Taking in Early Teens May Predict Future Substance Use. Using data from the
Millennium Cohort Study, researchers found that 14-year-olds who showed greater risk-taking on a computerized
task were more likely to report substance use and gambling at age 14 and were more likely to begin using tobacco,
vaping products, cannabis, other drugs, or gambling by age 17. JCPP Advances, December 2025
Wellness/Prevention: Hearing Loss Is Becoming More Common in Young Adults. Using Global Burden of
Disease study data, researchers report that the number of adults under age 40 living with hearing loss increased from
171.8 million in 1992 to 256.2 million in 2021, with researchers projecting nearly 291.4 million cases by 2040.
While several factors likely contribute, recreational noise exposure and frequent headphone use may play an
important role, making hearing protection an increasingly important part of lifelong health.
